SpotOn and Integeo Deliver Power of Location Intelligence to Cognos Customers Marriage of BI and GIS creates potent visualiz

Integeo (http://www.integeo.com), a pioneer of geospatial business intelligence (BI), and BI consultants SpotOn Systems (http://www.spotonsystems.com) have signed a strategic agreement to provide Cognos customers with the ability to generate on-demand interactive map-enabled reports.

Under the agreement, Ottawa-based SpotOn Systems has integrated Cognos BI solutions with Integeo's award-winning Map Intelligence, a rapid application development platform that enables organizations to quickly build custom location intelligent solutions without any programming.

"There is explosive demand for geospatially enabled business intelligence solutions in the Cognos customer base," said Darren Nelson, CTO of SpotOn Systems. "There are clear benefits from being able to rapidly build and deploy customized interactive maps in areas from emergency and disaster planning through to marketing, real estate, recruitment and telecommunications.

"This integrated solution gives Cognos BI customers an unprecedented ability to spot trends, anticipate challenges and analyze information."

Integeo's Map Intelligence does more than just display data on either a map or floor-plan. Its "no programming" technology enables report builders to generate information-rich, interactive mapping applications for all levels of an organization with synchronization between the report and the maps, with drill-down from user-defined location perspectives.

Map Intelligence (http://www.integeo.com/content/view/351/141/) customers include the US Army, Sun Microsystems, Australia's Northern Territory Police, Queensland Rail, the Federal Department of Family and Community Services and many other Government and commericial organizations, covering retail, insurance and banking, real estate, fisheries, telecommunications, education and tourism.

"Integeo is excited about the opportunity to give Cognos customers a compelling new view of their business information," said Integeo CEO Peter Rossiter. "Our technology quickly and easily exposes spatial relationships that are implicit in most data sets but are usually hidden. Cognos users will easily embed sophisticated location intelligence - maps, building plans, and other visualizations - into their reports, without ever leaving their familiar Cognos environment."

According to Mr Rossiter, Map Intelligence has demonstrated return on investment within a year of deployment that greatly outweighs the initial cost.

"The rapid application development times have astounded customers who discover increased productivity from their existing resources," he said. "Meanwhile end users make better decisions because of the previously unavailable holistic views of corporate data.

"We selected SpotOn Systems because of its proven track record of building customized, high-impact business intelligence solutions across a broad range of industries. Everyone we spoke to, including Cognos, indicated that the SpotOn team was the right partner to embed Map Intelligence into the Cognos environment. Their reputation is well earned!"
