TecAccess Publishes White Paper on Telecommunications Accessibility
May 27, 2005 -- TecAccess, a worldwide leader in Section 508 compliance, and electronic and information technology (E&IT) accessibility, has published a comprehensive
white paper entitled "Accessibility: What you need to know before purchasing telecommunication products." The paper was written by Debra Ruh, TecAccess President and Founder, and Colette Buckley, TecAccess Project Manager.
The paper discusses the various types of accessible telecommunication systems, including teletypewriters (TTYs), and hearing and voice over IP (VoIP). It also focuses on the different types of individuals who can benefit from accessible telecom devices and services. Furthermore, the
white paper explains the positive impact that telecommunication accessibility can have on businesses. It is available at http://tecaccess.net/content/inthenews/telecom.shtml.
"Designing telecommunications products and services that can be used by as many people as possible is now accepted as essential," Ms. Buckley says. "My hope is that when reading this
white paper ; whether it is a government or state agency, corporation, or individual, they will use the information to better understand the limitations that persons with disabilities can encounter with inaccessible telecommunications and gain an insight as to what accessible features are needed to eliminate those limitations."
