XSAT Selling Iridium Phones to Support Disaster Relief Preparation

In order to satisfy a growing demand on Iridium phones especially in the United States where organizations are getting ready for another hurricane season, XSAT USA has decided to expand its product line and start selling Iridium satellite phones in addition to the Thuraya products it has been selling.



The Iridium System is a satellite-based, wireless personal communications network providing a robust suite of voice and data services to virtually any destination anywhere on earth. The Iridium Satellite System enables remote communication solutions for vertical markets that include: Maritime, Construction, Aviation, Oil & Gas, Mining, Government, Leisure Travel, and Disaster Relief Organizations.



Iridium mobile handsets enable data connectivity with a variety of mobile computer equipment through a standard serial cable connection and a custom handset connector (custom connector sold as part of data kit). The Iridium system is comprised of three principal components: the satellite network, the ground network and the Iridium subscriber products including phones and pagers. The design of the Iridium network allows voice and data communication to be routed virtually anywhere in the world. Voice calls and data transmissions are relayed from one satellite to another until they reach the satellite above the Iridium Subscriber Unit (handset) and the signal is relayed back to Earth.



In December 2004, Iridium launched the new 9505A handset. The 9505A has the same features and functions as the 9505, as well as a similar form, look and feel. However, only 9505A accessories can be used with this phone. The 9500 and 9505 units are no longer manufactured. The 9505A is the replacement unit and is the model XSAT markets and sells. The Iridium 9505A Satellite Phone Basic Package comes equipped with handset with integral antenna, high capacity battery, AC Charger with Universal Plugs, 12 volt Cigarette Lighter Adapter, Antenna Adapter, Portable Auxiliary Antenna, Leather Case and User Manual. We sell these units at extremely low market prices to both end users and distributors.



We offer very competitive prices for the vouchers to buy minutes for the 9505A as well. The number of units used for a call depends on where the call is directed to:

1.   
Iridium to Iridium call: 30 units.

2.   
Iridium to Cell phone or landline: 60 units (Also referred to as the Basic Call).

3.   
Iridium to other satellite phone: 540 units.



If a customer only wants to use the phone for one month, he/she can purchase a 4,500 Units prepaid voucher (equivalent of 75 minutes of Basic call). This can be supplemented by 3,000 Units refills (equivalent of 50 minutes of Basic call). If a customer is willing to sign a one or two year contract, the price per minute goes down drastically. In order to allow a customer to use unused prepaid minutes, XSAT offers the one month prepaid extension.
