DMX Awarded RMB2.2M Contract to Build IPTV Content Platform for Shanghai Media Group
Singapore Exchange ("SGX") Mainboard-listed DMX Technologies Group Limited ("DMX" or "the Company"), a leading system architect that provides a wide range of broadband network infrastructure, digital video, and advanced mobile solutions to service providers and corporate customers across Asia, is pleased to announce that it won a RMB 2.2M contact from Shanghai Media Group ("SMG"), currently the only authorized Internet Protocol Television ("IP-TV") service provider in China.
Under the contract, DMX will build Phase 1 of the Internet Protocol Television (IP-TV) Content Platform ("the Platform") for SMG using its unique Digital Fixed Media solution. The solution includes encoding software and MAX, a digital broadcast centre management software suite developed by DMX.
The Platform enables SMG to deliver real-time TV broadcast over broadband networks, mobile phone networks and future IP-TV infrastructures through four major telecommunications operators in China, including China Telecom, China Mobile, China Netcom and China Unicom; as well as Softbank, an Internet value-added service provider in China.
Upon the completion of the project, SMG shall simultaneously deliver a total of more than 200 television programs, one globally exclusive program - the China Football Association Super League, programs from all analog TV and radio channels owned by SMG, and 31 pay TV channels selected by SMG.
DMX Chief Executive Officer Mr. Giang Phung commented, "This ground-breaking deal is a milestone to IP-TV provisioning service in China. We are pleased to work with SMG in opening up the emerging IP-TV market in China, which will have 4.5 million subscribers by 2008, according to an estimate from In-Stat."

Shanghai Media Group's Chief Executive Office Mr. Li Rui Gang commented, "Provision of IP-TV service is a watershed to the broadcast industry in China. IP-TV enables us to provide high quality digital TV entertainment to the growing subscribers in China. More importantly, it prepares ourselves for the global market targeting the Chinese-speaking communities worldwide through the IP networks."
