Mainpine Adopts European Union (EU) Environmental Protection Directives for Electrical and Electronic Equipment
Mainpine line of RockForce interface products comply with EU directives regarding hazardous substances and waste from electrical and electronic equipment
Somerset, England January 3, 2006 -- Mainpine, a leading vendor of fax/data/voice interface products today announced compliance with EU directives on Restrictions of certain Hazardous
Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) and the Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
As of January 2006, all new RockForce interface cards from Mainpine will comply with RoHS and WEEE directives. These EU directives restrict the use of six hazardous substances and promote
environmentally sound recovery and disposal of electrical and electronic equipment waste. "As an ethically minded company, Mainpine is committed to doing whatever we can to preserve,
protect and improve our environment," said Kevin Sharpe, Managing Director of Mainpine.
The WEEE directive is designed to reduce the amount of electronic waste ending up in EU landfills and incinerators and encourages reuse, recycling, compositing and recovery of electronic
and electrical equipment. Mainpine has taken all the steps required to meet the WEEE directives, including using recycled packaging and providing proper labeling on its products. In
accordance with RoHS, Mainpine has restricted the use of certain hazardous chemicals in the manufacture of new RockForce products. Beginning 1, July 2006, RoHS restricts the use of lead,
cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium and both polybrominated biphenyl and polybrominated diphenyl ether flame retardants in electrical and electronic equipment.
"We have always taken a green approach when developing and manufacturing our RockForce line of products. Compliance to these important EU directives is another step in our ongoing efforts
to provide our customers environmentally-friendly and high-quality communications products," said Sharpe.
