Emmy Nomination for Michelle Stafford

ABC's "The View" announced Wednesday morning that one of daytime's most popular actresses, Michelle Stafford of CBS's "The Young and the Restless," has been nominated for what could be her third Emmy. Stafford, having won two previous Emmys for her role on Y&R, has been nominated again this year in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

When "The View's" co-host Sherri Shepherd asked People magazine's Mark Dagostino who he thought would win the category, he replied, "I'm saying, Michelle Staffordfor playing two unbelievably different characters," and went on to call her portrayal, "pretty phenomenal." The portrayal Dagostino refers to is the dual-role Stafford tackled as the gorgeous Phyllis Summers Newman and the heinous Sheila Carter.

"The Young and The Restless," nominated this year for a total of 17 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, has been the #1-rated daytime drama for the last 19 years.

The 35th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on Friday, June 20th, 2008 (8:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. ET/PT), on the ABC Television Network from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.

In addition to her daytime schedule, Stafford recently wrapped a lead role in the independent film "3 Days Gone," in which she played Detective Holloway.
