Dozens of Hollywood'ss top celebrities joined thousands of foster children in celebrating the 10th Annual Day of the Child at the Santa Monica Pier on Sunday, November 9, 2008. The event is put on by the non-profit organization Children Uniting Nations. Day of the Child is a free, one-day event benefiting foster youth that features live entertainment, food and festivities. Foster youth spend the day enjoying rides, games, live entertainment, food and fun. At the end of the event, children receive care packages including books, educational materials and toiletries, which are donated by My Stuff Bags and other generous organizations. The goal of the event is to help create wonderful memories and special friendships for more than fifteen hundred children living in foster care.
Celebrities who attended this year'ss event include the event'ss emcees Maria Conchita Alonso, Tommy Davidson and Miguel Nunez, as well as Jane Seymour, Christina Milian, Bai Ling, Erik
Estrada, DJ Spinderella, Slade Smiley, Steve Guttenberg, Bar Paly, Claire Forlani and American Gladiator Robin Helga Coleman. The kids were treated to performances by comedian Judy
Tenuta, as well as musical performances by Aaron Carter, Colby O'sDonis, Darryl DMC McDaniels, Lauren Mayhew, The Power of Three and Savvy 's38; Mandy.
Children Uniting Nations is a non-profit organization founded and headed by philanthropist Daphna Ziman. Children Uniting Nations is dedicated to providing quality mentoring relationships
for at-risk and foster youth. CUN strives to recruit and train community volunteers to help build self-esteem, life skills and improve educational outcomes for youth in our at-risk
