Cigar Company Initiates Cigars for Relief Donation Program
Graycliff Hotel, Restaurant and Cigar Company, one of Nassau's most highly regarded resorts and a leading manufacturer of fine luxury cigars, today announced that in addition to their private contributions for Hurricane relief, they will donate $10 US per box of cigars sold during the months of September and October 2005 to the American Red Cross' Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Graycliff selected the American Red Cross because of the immediate positive impact the organization can have for victims and because of their advanced distribution system.
Graycliff's historic resort and cigar factory, which occupy a 1740s mansion in downtown Nassau, has survived numerous hurricanes throughout its 265 year history, giving Graycliff owner Enrico Garzaroli a unique perspective into what things are like right now in hurricane-devastated Gulf Coast cities.
Garzaroli said Wednesday "This is a tragedy of gigantic proportions. Offering our sympathy is not enough. We have so many friends and associates of Graycliff in this area who are suffering." He went on to state "We are working actively to encourage donations from the world business community to help the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and other organizations to provide assistance to those in need. Also to raise awareness and boost donations for hurricane relief we are initiating a special donation program, whereby we will donate $10 per box of Graycliff cigars that we sell directly during the month of September to the American Red Cross' Hurricane Katrina relief efforts."
Graycliff has strong ties with the United States' Gulf Coast region, their close relationship with New Orleans and the city's epicures, restaurant owners and cigar-loving residents is legendary, with roots and a shared history that date back to the days of privateer Jean LaFitte.
