Catnap Kitty Inventor Debuts Award Winning Toy at Atlantas Childrens...

A Sandy Springs Mom, grieving over the loss of a family pet cat, has invented an award winning plush toy cat that simulates the subtle sound and calming feel of a real cat'ss purr. Winner of Creative Child Magazine'ss Preferred Choice Award for 2008, Catnap Kitties's patented harmonic purr and soft, cozy, bodies, provide people who can'st have a pet cat with the comforting feel of holding and loving a real purring cat.

Mom inventor Vivian Hoard unveiled her award winning design this month at the Children'ss Museum of Atlanta. There Atlanta'ss youngest scientist got to meet the inventor and learn why and how Ms. Hoard designed Catnap Kitties. Ms. Hoard explained to the children that she was lucky enough to have raised a therapy quality pet cat. Showing the children pictures of her own children sleeping with their family pet she explained that she experienced firsthand the positive soothing properties from a cat'ss calming purr and later confirmed through independent scientific research that a cat'ss purr has soothing powers that help reduce stress.

She told the young audience that was why she spent four years after her beloved family feline Ludwig passed away at the age of 19, developing and perfecting Catnap Kitties's calming purr.
