April 19, 2005 -- Cache Creek Casino Resort and Yolo TMA Go For Carpool World Record on Earth Day (April 22, 2005).
Aim is to Cut Commute Costs, Improve Air Quality and Decrease Road Congestion.
Who: Cache Creek Casino Resort and Yolo Transportation Management Association
What: Carpool World's Record
Where: Cache Creek Casino Resort, Brooks, California (Sacramento Metro region)
When, Earth Day, April 22, 2005
Why: Decrease commute costs, improve air quality and decrease road congestion
With gasoline prices hitting record highs around the country, the cost of filling up is hitting household budgets like never before. The high cost of gas is just one of the "drivers"
behind a record setting day scheduled for April 22, 2005.
On Earth Day 2005 (April 22), Cache Creek Casino Resort employees and the Yolo Transportation Management Association are teaming up to set a world's record for most carpool miles pledged
in one day (based on a year's worth of carpooling).
On Earth Day, we're aiming for 1,000,000+ carpool miles (annualized), a number that by far would shatter any previous attempts. The most successful known attempt to date has been just
over 614,000 miles.
