Houser Transport Driver Earns National Safety Award

Houser Transport, Inc, located in Vale, NC, recently announced that truck driver Debbie Parker is the 2005-2006 TLC Safety Top Dog Grand Prize winner. Parker took home $12,500 that was awarded by the TLC Companies, Brooklyn Center, Minn.

TLC Companies CEO presented the award May19, 2006 at Houser Transport's8217;s headquarters. Parker is the first woman to win the top award.

Parker qualified for the national award by having a clean driving record, no over-the-road accidents, and no worker's8217;s compensation claims during the program year. She was chosen randomly from drivers across the nation who had also met the program's8217;s stringent qualifications and had registered each of the program's8217;s four three-month periods.

The TLC companies is the country's8217;s largest professional employer organization (PEO) specializing in the trucking industry. TLC created the trademarked Safety Top Dog Awards Program in 2000 to encourage and reward safe work and driving by its drivers. Participation by drivers who work for the PEO at nearly 500 trucking companies across the country has grown each year, according to Bob Byrnes, TLC's8217;s safety manager.

Each quarter, 30 qualified drivers are chosen to receive 25 $200 Wal-Mart Gift cards and five $800 gift cards. To be eligible, a driver must be accident and injury-free, and be in good standing with their company and TLC. Drivers must also register each quarter. They can increase their chances of winning by correctly answering questions from safety quizzes contained in the PEO's8217;s monthly newsletter for drivers.

Several of Houser Transport's8217;s drivers have won quarterly prizes in pervious years, but Parker is the company's8217;s first grand prize winner.

's8220;Since she won,'s8221; said Sam Houser, CEO of Houser Transport, 's8220;our driver participation in the Top Dog Award Program has gone way up. TLC's8217;s Top Dog Award Program gives our drivers more incentive to be safe, and they pay more attention to safety because of the program.'s8221;

Houser added, 's8220;Debra is a top-notch all around driver, and we are real proud she got this award.'s8221;
