Cooking classes for kids aged four to 12

Esencia offers age-appropriate cooking classes for kids four to eight as well as eight to 12 years old. The classes include professional chef uniforms -- aprons and toques -- for kids, hands-on instruction, and, at the end of every class, a presentation and tasting for parents.

The Mini Pastry Chef class introduces children age four to eight to the art of baking cookies, muffins, small cakes and tarts, as well as icings, meringues and toppings. The class also includes a tour of the resort's organic herb and vegetable garden. The Junior Guest Chef class teaches kids eight to 12 how to make salads and salad dressings, Mexican salsas, sauces and guacamole, and Mexican specialties including tortillas, gorditas and tamales. Junior Guest Chefs also learn about the importance of replenishing the earth after harvesting ingredients from Esencia's garden.
