National Trust Historic Hotels of America Presents 2006 Directory



The 2006 Historic Hotels of America directory is now available. The directory presents travelers with ways to experience America's8212;even in their sleep. Travelers can obtain 210 ideas of places to sleep with history.

"Interest in heritage and cultural travel has never been stronger," said Thierry Roch, executive director of Historic Hotels of America. "More and more travelers are seeking a sense of place, authenticity, a sampling of history and gracious hospitality to enhance their journey."

The guide features 210 historically significant hotels, resorts and inns, depicting each with a half-page photo and a second full-color image showing an alternate view of the property. In addition, each entry provides travelers with a brief description and history of the hotel, rates, a three-page fold-out national map and an easy-to-read reference chart of meeting room facilities.

National Trust Historic Hotels of America is a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Historic Hotels has identified 210 hotels in 41 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico that have faithfully maintained their historic integrity, architecture and ambiance. To be selected for this program, a hotel must be at least 50 year old, listed on or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places or recognized locally as having historic significance.
