Snowmass is a fast-rising star in the Colorado concert scene, and there's no better example of this mountain resort's dedication to bringing high caliber, affordable music to the masses
than Massive Music & Movies, which kicks off this weekend with three nights of free concerts and favorite classic movies.
"We're really thrilled to offer such talented performers as Shawn Colvin, Shelby Lynne, and Charlie Musselwhite in absolutely free concerts," says Susan Hamley, Director of Marketing for
Snowmass Village. "Individually these concerts would cost $35 a ticket and here we're offering the whole weekend for nothing. We've worked hard to make Snowmass a great summer value and
an appealing weekend destination for visitors. Massive Music & Movies is an integral component of that goal."
The weekend begins this Thursday July 7 with alternative country music and Best New Artist Grammy Award winner Shelby Lynne performing at 6 p.m., followed by the movie "Blazing Saddles."
On Friday, Smokin' Joe Kelly takes the stage at 6 p.m. to warm up the crowds for Blues and Jazz legend Charlie Musselwhite, who plays at 7:30 p.m. The movie at dusk is "Animal House."
If it's hard to believe the free music could get any better, keep reading. On Saturday night, R&B singer/songwriter Eric Lindell performs at 6 p.m., followed by Shawn Colvin, one of
the top female singer/songwriters, at 7:30 p.m. "The Sound of Music" not only sums up this massively musical weekend of entertainment but also concludes the first Massive Music &
Movies. In August, two additional Massive Music & Movie weekends take place August 4-6 and August 25-27 and offer such renowned acts as the Psychedelic Furs, the Derek Trucks Band,
and the Funk Brothers in concert-- again for free.
"The great lodging deals, free music and movies, free chairlift and additional free activities in Snowmass all can turn a short and scenic drive into a long and enjoyable weekend,"
concludes Hamley.
All performances are rain or shine on Fanny Hill in Snowmass Village. The music starts nightly at 6 p.m., followed by the movie at dusk. During the day, Snowmass offers a wealth of
activities, from the free chairlift ride to 25 miles of hiking and biking trails to free kids activities and free guided nature walks and fun for the whole family. For more information,
