The Lincoln Square Business Improvement District (Lincoln Square BID) invites all New Yorkers and visitors to 's8220;Sidewalk Surprises's8221; 's8211; a free outdoor walking tour through
Lincoln Square, the gateway to the Upper West Side, and home to Time Warner Center, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, dozens of great restaurants and casual eateries, fine shops and
tour-worthy sights.
Walking tour participants will be taken on a journey full of 's8220;sidewalk surprises's8221; and will learn about the history and culture of New York's8217;s premier neighborhood while
discovering historic treasures, architectural jewels, and peaceful parks.
Along the way, visitors will learn about the filming of West Side Story on the site of Lincoln Center, the history of San Juan Hill, and Lincoln Square's8217;s reputation as a colorful
art and theater community.
Each tour is given by a witty and knowledgeable urban historian and will include a glimpse at the interior of one or more of Lincoln Square's8217;s many cultural or historic
buildings.
The FREE tours are held every Saturday at 11:00a.m. through November 11. Tours meet inside Columbus Circle, 59th Street & Broadway. Take the A, B, C, D, or 1 train to 59th
Street/Columbus Circle.
