IRTI Releases eClipseWriter Version 21 a Major Update to its DAISY Accessible Media production tool for the Blind Visually Impaired and Print Disabled

April 28, 2005 -- Innovative Rehabilitation Technology, Inc. (www.irti.net) today announced the release of eClipseWriter Version 2.1, with enormous feature and function enhancements.

eClipseWriter is a software application (MSRP $299.95) which enables users to quickly and easily turn virtually any electronic text document into a Digital Talking Book (a "print disabled" industry standard created by the DAISY Consortium (www.DAISY.org)). Digital Talking Books (DTB's) allow the blind, dyslexic, and other print disabled individuals to literally "hear" and navigate written content to the same level of detail of a non-disabled person.

The application is designed for and used by educators, students, ADA coordinators, 508 accessibility specialists, media creators, and other professionals, enabling them to produce accessible versions of printed media.

The company's Vice President of Engineering, Tim Simonetti, commented on the Version 2.1 Release, saying "Version 2.1 represents major breakthroughs in the area of time savings as well as the types of source documents which eClipseWriter can process. The best thing is that all of these enhancements are directly derived from the feedback we have received from our users."

Highlights of the new features include automatic page and heading marker insertion, automatic table preparation and voicing, burn to CD directly from within the application , DAISY Type 6 book creation, and the ability to open a broader range of source documents such as most .PDF files.

"We're very proud of the progress the application has made in such a short period of time", Simonetti goes on to say. "Just the new automation features alone can slash the time required to produce accessible media by as much as 75%. We continue to make progress on our mission of making it simple and affordable for everyone to have equal access to printed materials."

Existing eClipseWriter users will receive Version 2.1 as an upgrade to their existing software versions. They should contact the company for download instructions, or to receive the update via a CD. The download version is free and there is a nominal charge (about $25)to receive it on CD.
