DogCaptions.com is pleased to announce the 'Barkers Dozen' Friendship Card Pack in celebration of National Old Friends, New Friends Week,' held May 18-25, 2008. This collection of thirteen all-occasion note cards provides a simple, yet powerful tool to help humans de-stress and reconnect with friends while raising funds for pet adoptions and spay/neuter services.
DogCaptions.com founders, Richard Stone and Viveca Stone-Berry, have created thirteen all-occasion note cards featuring man's best friend in precarious and precocious poses. Each unique
card includes a humorous and heartwarming caption about a life lesson and is guaranteed to bring joy and laughter to recipients.
During 'National Old Friends, New Friends Week,' up to fifty-percent of profits from the sale of Barker's Dozen note cards (and other products sold at www.DogCaptions.com/orders) will be distributed between three animal-rescue organizations including: SpayUSA.org RingDogRescue.org and
SPCAFred.org.
The Barker's Dozen dogs (and one cat) were photographed and captioned by Rich Stone, an American Airlines Captain and former F-14 pilot. His sister Viveca Stone-Berry, a volunteer at her
local animal shelter, is charged with spreading the word about the fundraiser and the importance of putting friendship first.
"We need a touchy-feely opportunity to focus on recharging our relationships - a way to make new friends and keep the old," states Stone-Berry. "High-tech communication devices are
bankrupting our spirit and creating dis-ease within our bodies. Our mailboxes keep filling up with bills and we're deluged with stressful news. Enough. Bring on the laughter, love and
connection -- let's have some fun!"
Research published by a plethora of sources shows:
- The proportion of workers who describe themselves as 'feeling highly stressed' more than doubled when cell phones became main stream in 1985. (Source: The American Institute of Stress)
- The number of people stating they have no one with whom to discuss important matters doubled between 1985 and 2004. (Duke Study 'Social Isolation in America: Changes in Core Discussion
Networks Over Two Decades.')
- Loneliness is a major precipitant of stress, depression, alcoholism, diabetes, heart disease and a wide range of other medical problems. (Dr. James Lynch, author, The Broken Heart: the
Medical Consequences of Loneliness)
- The March 2008 Gallup Poll revealed a surge in the percentage of Americans who worry 'a great deal' about the economy. (March 28, 2008 'Economic Anxiety Surges in Past Year')
"Pets, and particularly dogs, are a natural link to this special week," says Stone-Berry. "They help us overcome daily challenges, provide companionship, and are frequently a way for
people to link together. Studies show pet owners have an easier time meeting people and making new friends."
The Barker's Dozen greeting cards are packaged in a reusable tote with astro-bright red envelopes, a pen and mini address book. Additionally, every order placed during Old Friend New
Friend week will include a surprise gift. Gifts are randomly selected and include 'Bark Mark' bookmarks, coupons for a complimentary pet portrait or pet nail trim, books, comedy cds,
cookies and other pet/friendship related items. (www.DogCaptions.com/gifts) "Friendship is full of fun, anticipation and surprise gifts and
so is our product," states Stone-Berry.
Barker's Dozen Friendship Packs go on sale May 18th. They can be purchased for $19.95 plus shipping and handling at www.DogCaptions.com.
Pre-orders are welcome.
