May 12, 2005 -- New Charity Needs Generous Donations to continue helping Houston's homeless addicts.
The Big Charity Sale (Thrift Store & Men's Shelter) in S.W. Houston takes a refreshing new approach to helping those in need.
"No hand outs here" The men coming off the streets to recover from their addictions, help to offset the cost of their housing and treatment by working in the charity's thrift store. The
Big Charity Sale's Center for Recovery provides men (who are ready to change) with the housing, food, clothing, job training and resources necessary for them recover from their addictions
and to become productive members of society.
Inside the Big Charity Sale Thrift Store, founders Virginia Bowen and Leland Smith work along side the men they help, to create the attractive environment of a well stocked, well
organized department store providing a positive experience for the men they serve. Virginia Bowen comments, "I feel that it is extremely important for guys to leave the Big Charity Sale's
Center for Recovery, feeling better about themselves and well equiped to remain sober and productive.
