AVRA, a winning sailboat racing program with a hailport of New York, NY has launched its website at AVRA website (http://www.avra.us)
The website provides "confidential" information to provide sailing and sailboat racing information to the members of its sailboat racing team as well as to other sailboat racing teams
AVRA is a J/120 (40 foot sailboat) hailing from New York. We race AVRA in windward/leeward regattas, we distance-race her in events ranging from 200 to 650 miles, and we cruise her in New
England waters. The boat's name is a Greek word meaning "a pleasant breeze coming from the sea."
AVRA's first place trophies include Key West Race Week (One Design, 2005), American Fall Series (One Design, 2006 and 2007), American Spring Series (One Design, 2005), Jamie Boeckel
Memorial (IRC, 2006), YRALIS Gitana Trophy (PHRF, 2006), and the Fareri-Wachovia Cup (2006).
In addition to the photos and schedules that all racing program websites have, on this site we share our "confidential" resources. Our goal in doing so is to have these materials easily
accessible by our Team as well as to share them with new J/120 programs in Long Island Sound, including those at the US Merchant Marine Academy and US Coast Guard Academy, both of which
recently acquired J/120s. In addition, many of the materials apply to other sprit-boat designs of similar size. We welcome any comments and improvements.
AVRA would like to thank each member of our Team; their friends and families who support them in the sport; and the event organizers and race committees without whom there would be no
racing: Thank You!
