With the major record labels in financial turmoil, there has never been a better time for hip, young Indie upstarts to take on the foundering 'Big Boys' of the music industry... and who better to lead the charge than a female-led rock music tour and one of the hottest new music business portals!
The upcoming Girls Rock & Girls Rule Tour has joined forces with Noisy Planet to spread the word about the power of women in rock and to highlight the surge of quality independent
music. Noisy Planet.net led by Founder/President Kevin Petersen, is on a mission to "help artists in every corner of the world to connect with fans and colleagues" as they "create the
easiest way for independent artists and bands to post and sell music on the worldwide web." Girls Rock & Girls Rule is led by Gail Silverman, herself a working musician and Founder of
Revolutionary Records and the GRGR Tour.
Kevin and Gail met at Noisy Planet's sponsor exhibit at the ASCAP "I Create Music Expo 2008." They both say they had an instant musical connection. Gail was drawn to Noisy Planet's "I'm a
Noisy Girl" tee shirts, but soon discovered a deeper synergy with Noisy Planet.
"Noisy Planet has a similar mission to ours of helping independent artists get their music out there and to bring them more exposure," she says. "As two companies that are still young and
growing, it's mutually beneficial to be able to join forces to help each other out."
Noisy Planet is an official sponsor of the Girls Rock & Girls Rule Tour 2008 and will offer co-branded tee shirts for the tour as well as an opportunity for their artists to gain
exposure through the site. The GRGR tour showcases more than 30 women-led rock bands in 13 cities from July through October each year closing with their Anniversary Showcase in their
hometown of NYC in December.
"Our entire focus at Noisy Planet is on helping Indie artists to excel in whatever way possible, and this tour and sponsorship is a great way for us to demonstrate our reciprocal faith in
the power of Indie women in rock," Kevin says. "I'm thrilled to have this unprecedented opportunity to empower artists everywhere, and I truly believe the future of Indie music is very
bright."
About Girls Rock & Girls Rule:
Revolutionary Records launched Girls Rock & Girls Rule (GRGR) in NYC in December 2002 and is dedicated to increasing the exposure of awesome, female-infused rock bands - mostly in
harder-than-folk genres like indie, punk, hardcore, mathrock, and metal. GRGR now in its 7th year continues to grow and expand. The showcases have featured some of the East Coast's best
female independent rockers and serve as platform not only to showcase female rock musicians but to support women in general with a majority of the proceeds donated to female related
charities, GRGR's current beneficiary is Willie Mae Rock Camp For Girls supporting the next generation of girls who rock. The 2008 GRGR Tour plans are well underway and it is set to be
bigger and better and rock harder then ever with several preview shows in the tri-state area and a 9-city tour Oct. 3-11. For venues, cities and other details visit:
