What Would Any Good Mother Do to Protect Her Child

June 8, 2005 -- What would any good mother do to protect her child Much like a mamma bear, Tina Womack has done everything she possibly can to help her son Chris with his unbearable and sad situation.

Womack's husband has been a father to Chris since he was one, but Chris still has his mothers maiden name. He has been ridiculed by kids at school for being different from the others. He loves his father and wants to become part of the "family". His biological father has been supportive of the change, and signed the paperwork necessary to start the process of allowing the adoption.

The problem with this scenario, is that an adoption and name change in Oklahoma is over $2000 for court costs and lawyers fees, something not easy to come by when you are a family that lives paycheck to paycheck. Womack tried to save, but life got in the way and bills often had to be paid so saving became difficult, especially as a stay at home mom of three growing kids.

"My son Chris has been wanting to be adopted for a while now by my husband who has raised him since he was one. Seems every time I think I can save some money something happens and I have to use it for a bill."

Then she discovered the world of eBay and many of their crazy auctions that have become so popular. She worked to come up with a unique auction to catch the attention of the public and the Human Casino Chip was born. Womack auctioned off herself, dressed as a casino chip, wherever she is sent for 3 days. It worked and Womack was purchased by online casino, Golden Palace Casino.

Golden Palace is known for gobbling up wacky eBay auctions to help promote their offshore casino. Unfortunately, the $340 raised from that auction, was not enough to pay the fees that were necessary to complete the adoption.

Womack struggled once again with what she needed to do to achieve her family's goal. She stepped up to the ultimate show of motherly love, and decided to auction off her own name to the highest bidder.

Other eBayers have been successful at marketing businesses by legally changing their name to anything the person that purchases it would like. Womack decided that this was a great way to make the money necessary to make her son's dream come true.

Womack is not concerned that herself and her son will not have the same name in the end. "The way I see it is that its just a name. I will still have my favorite name of all and that's mommy."

Her family is supportive of her decision. " My husband understands why I am doing this. He is supportive of it. I have told the kids, Chris is the only one that really understands."

Womack's Human casino chip auction garnered worldwide media attention, and this auction is destined to repeat the trend. To view this auction, visit: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dlitem=5587228716
