Gaming Industry To Attend Showdown At IPIC Conference November 1415 Unley Town Hall Adelaide Australia
International speakers who have already been announced include Roger Horbay and Tracy Schrans from Canada, and John Stansfield from New Zealand.
The event includes a reception at Old Parliament House for all conference attendees hosted by Nick Xenophon MLC (Monday, 14th November from 5 p.m.) as well as a public lecture by Roger Horbay and Tracy Schrans (Wednesday 16th November at 7 p.m.) at Flinders Medical Centre.
Expert speakers from leading academic institutions include Paul Delfabbro, University of Adelaide, Linda Hancock, Deakin University and James Doughney, Victoria University.
Discussions are focused on how Electronic Gaming Machine (EGM) design and promotion impacts on human behavior, how EGM-related harm impacts on communities and the economy, and how the massive revenue government receives shapes the way the industry is operated and regulated.
Completing the conference program is a "hypothetical" titled "The Lucky Country" during which the participants will explore solutions to the negative impact pokies have on communities.
