With Earth Day approaching, and the EPA'ss recent finding that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases pose a danger to the public, interest in carbon footprints is increasing. People are being told their daily activities, such as driving, can have a significant impact on the environment and in response Cost2Drive.com added the Greenculator, a tool that calculates the amount of carbon dioxide emissions associated with driving a route.

Whether they'sre calculating a daily commute or a vacation route, the Greenculator lets drivers lessen their trip'ss negative impact by allowing them to purchase carbon offsets. According to the EPA more than one quarter of all carbon emissions in the US come from highway vehicles, and many of these emissions can be attributed to a daily commute. As a way to raise awareness around the environmental impact of commuting, C2G also launched www.greenculator.com and is asking commuters to make a no-driving pledge for Earth Day.

We'sre asking commuters to leave their cars at home and use public transportation, bike to work or work from home on Earth Day, said Kovarik. The goal of the pledge is to reduce CO2 emissions on Earth Day by over 1 million pounds.
