June 22, 2005 -- Multiply (http://multiply.com) has added video and music to the popular types of content its users can share and discuss with family, friends and their entire "social
network." Multiply users can also upload digital photos, blogs, events, classified listings and more -- on their own personal Web site.
"Devices that record video have become ubiquitous; you have camcorders, digital cameras, even cell phones. But until now there wasn't an easy, convenient way to share the video," says
Peter Pezaris, Multiply's president. "By making it convenient for users to put their videos and music on the same site as their photos, blogs and events, we're opening up these types of
media to a mass audience."
The addition of video and music coincides with Multiply's introduction of subscription "Gold" and "Platinum" accounts. While all Multiply users get unlimited storage for their videos,
music, and photos free of charge, users with premium accounts get higher monthly upload limits.
"Our pay upgrades allow us to provide a better experience for everyone, including non-paying users," says Pezaris. "Our power users can share a ton of media, and our more casual users
don't get hit with the barrage of advertising prevalent on other photo and video-sharing sites."
In addition to the higher upload limits, pay subscribers get more tools to customize their personal home pages, discounts on photo print orders, and other premium features. More
