Luxury Honeymoon Market Continues to Thrive

In a recent interview on NBC's TODAY Show, Virtuoso spokesperson, Misty Ewing, attributed the growing popularity of honeymoon gift registries such as Distinctive Honeymoons as a "Fantastic idea because you get the honeymoon you want and your friends and family get to contribute to it."

Ewing adds, "Most people are getting married later in life now and sometimes they live together, so do they really need another blender Probably not. Everyone wants a fabulous honeymoon, so (with a gift registry) guests can go in and purchase components of your honeymoon that can enhance the experience."

"Europe is still very popular," Keane hastens to add, "even with the weaker dollar. The focus turns to value. To offset the Euro, many European hotels are offering flat rates guaranteed in US dollars or 'extra night free' promotions. Rates are quoted in US dollars and converted to Euros at check out at a set fixed rate. Our hotel partners are doing their best to accommodate American travelers under the current economic conditions."

"Another very popular choice for honeymooners is Cruising. For those couples looking to explore Europe or other expensive destinations such as Tahiti, a cruise gives the couple the flexibility to see many sights while having paid for everything in US dollars. There is very little expenditure of funds once overseas because it has all been taken care of in advance."

Other perennial honeymoon favorites include the Caribbean and Hawaii. "Hawaii is popular," says Keane, "because you get good value using US dollars and the experience of a tropical destination." Here again many hotels are offering free nights on select stays.
