2500 Attend Southern California Summer Snowboarding Event



Mountain High's annual Freedom Pass sale kicked off Labor Day Saturday with the hugely successful Buck Off Freedom Pass Jib Jam. More than 80 tons of snow was used to create a 10,000 square foot jib arena and riders from as far away as Oregon came to participate. Freedom Pass sales were up 37% due, in part, to the event, and the resort also raised a significant amount of money for the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

Said John McColly, Director of Marketing, "The response was fantastic. Roughly 2,500 riders came out today, and we had cars parked a half a mile up the road this morning waiting to get in."

The Buck Off Freedom Pass Jib Jam was a well-needed break from the Southern California summer and got skiers and snowboarders thinking about the season ahead. A huge festival with vendors, clearance sales, and a 10,000 square foot jib arena provided the perfect backdrop to the resort's pass promotion and sales are up 37% over last year. The make-shift jib arena consisted of five boxes including a step-up box, a step-down box, and a new feature called the Paradox, a pyramid-shaped feature with a spinning top. As part of the promotion, riders were able to "knock bucks" off their Freedom Pass price by riding the features and collecting points. Freedom Passes are anytime season passes valid any day or night during the 2005/06 season including weekends and holidays. Regularly $499.00, they are now just $249 for the first 5,000 sold and $299 for the second 5,000 sold. The sale officially ends October 31st however resort operators are confident they will sell out long before that.

Off the snow, a sea of music filled the air as DJs and sponsoring radio stations took their turns banging beats. Vendors such as Ride Snowboards, 32 Boots, Girl Powder clothing, 686 Outerwear, and Anarchy Eyewear displayed the latest in equipment and apparel. And, Mountain High teamed up with the local Red Cross chapter to raise funds for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
