College Student Launches Handbag Line Blending Trend with Tradition

College student, Tanya Elshahawi, takes on entrepreneurship by heading up her own fabric handbag company inspired by her mother's handmade creations.

From her home in New Jersey and now online at www.elshacollection.com the Elsha Collection launch features handbags that offer a play between traditional styles and trendy bold colors, patterns and fabrics -- products that appeal to the eye, to the busy woman and also to the stylishly savvy.

Tanya seeks to provide women of all ages with a colorful way of adding function to fashion without losing the fun. The bags are named honorably after friends and family members, keeping the business experience personal for Tanya.

The inspiration for Elsha Collection came from Tanya's mother who took up sewing as a hobby and made Tanya's handbags for years.

"I always had the most colorful bags in high school. For a couple of years, I took requests from my teachers and friends outside of class time. But the idea to actually pursue making a business out of it, didn't come until I was in college," Tanya said.
