Infertility is not covered by most insurance companies stating that assisted reproduction is an "Elective procdure." Infertility is far from elective. No one elects to go through so much mental, physical and emotional destruction of the mind as well as the body.



Infertility takes from a person their identity, their lives, their homes, their marriages, their families, their friends and their sense of self worth. Infertility is horrific. I have spent 19 years dealing with infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss. Friends and family ignore the hurt and pain of its impact, while congress, legislation and insurance companies continue to brush it under the rug, stating elective options. According to my constitutional rights, I have the right to the pursuit of happiness. Yet, my pursuit of happiness is having a biological child of my own.
