Certified self-care consultant Marcia Davis Taylor will launch her inaugural column, "Self," a monthly column in the new e-magazine Lifestyle CEO.
Women are typically responsible for household management, childcare, and in many instances, elder care. This is in addition to working, both in and outside of the home. These
responsibilities leave precious little time for women to spend on themselves, which often leads to high levels of stress. Stress that occurs for extended periods of time has been proven
to negatively impact health and well-being.
According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, 70 to 90% of all visits to primary care physicians are for stress related complaints. Stress contributes to a weakened immune
system and susceptibility to infections; and has also been linked to gynecologic problems, including painful periods and miscarriages. A recent study suggests that chronic stress can
speed up the aging process at the cellular level. Stress symptoms include anxiety, memory loss, short attention span, fatigue, tension, emotional outbursts and the inability to relax.
The monthly "Self" column will focus on helping women successfully integrate all facets of their lives, with an emphasis on maximizing their potential as individuals. Readers will be
encouraged to step outside of their roles as wives, mothers and caregivers, to explore ways to take better care of and celebrate themselves.
Ms. Taylor can be heard live, Monday, December 5 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. EST on the Lifestyle CEO Internet Radio Show, at Global Talk Radio. Along with the publisher and other columnists
from Lifestyle CEO Magazine, Marcia will participate in a discussion about women living their lives with passion and on their own terms; creating the lives that they love. Listen at
