A Rocking Independence Day For Local Troops
Though Willow Grove Joint Reserve Armed Services Base is scheduled for closure by the Base Realignment and Closure Committee, those concerns were far away as a group of marines and sailors from the base got to attend an Independence Day Concert with Toby Keith.
Taking a break from their mission of supporting aircraft operations world wide, the tickets were donated to the base by All American Tickets of Claymont Delaware. "We figured the patriotic nature of Keith and his music would be a good break for our troops who are working so hard to protect our freedom," said Cindy Aquaro of All American Tickets.
During the show, Toby Keith recognized the troops in attendance and even invited some of the attendees up on stage during another of his patriotic tunes. One sailor was brought to tears by the experience. Some of the group were invited backstage to meet him and to get his autograph. With his normal rocking patriotism, Keith guided the audience in a heartfelt sing-along as the marines and sailors watched from onstage.
Many of the troops were raving about the experience afterwards. Some have never seen him live before and were amazing by the energy of the show. Those that were invited onstage seemed to be deeply affected by the entire experience.
All American Tickets, a Delaware company, is regularly donating tickets to various groups in the area. They plan on providing tickets to a Phillies game to a local Police Athletic League chapter from the Philadelphia area for an August game. "We see it as our duty to give back to the community," said Aquaro. "Companies today must really pay attention to the community."
Great thanks were expressed by the Willow Grove airbase.
