The Board of Directors for the Center for E-Business and Advanced IT (eBizITPA) today announced that they have hired Margrethe "Grethe" Lindemann as eBizITPA's new Executive Director. Lindemann will relocate from Wheeling, West Virginia.
Susan Breon, current leader of eBizITPA, will be stepping down after leading the organization since its inception in 2002. Since then, eBizITPA has expanded from a technology initiative
for northwestern Pennsylvania to a statewide organization that provides state-of-the-market technology training to thousands of workers, launched several major technology transfer
initiatives, created and administered several successful grant programs and has become a leader for technology-based economic development in the Commonwealth.
Lindemann's 25-year career spans a range of high-technology disciplines. She began her career as an engineer at NASA's Langley Research Center, where her work focused on advanced
instrumentation development. Later, she served in both development and executive capacities in several cutting-edge technology start-up companies on both U.S. coasts.
In addition, Lindemann has either founded or led several technology-based economic development initiatives that include: The Urban Technology Transfer Institute (UTTI) in Baltimore, MD;
Aerosea Research Institute in San Francisco, CA; Technology-based Economic Development and e-Business at the National Technology Transfer Center (NTTC) in Wheeling, WV; and the Hopewell
Fund in Wheeling, WV. She holds degrees in physics, biophysics and cognitive science, conducting her doctoral studies at Johns Hopkins University.
Lindemann characterizes her career as being one that has specialized in bringing forth and applying new technologies, with each step of the way reinforcing her perspective that creativity
and flexibility are critical in research and development, financing, partnership building and programmatic support.
"Touching as it does on virtually all types of business and industries, the role of IT in business and economic development of the future cannot be overstated," noted Lindemann.
According to Jeff Parnell, Managing Director of JHP Direct and Chairman of eBizITPA's Board of Directors "Since the inception of eBizITPA, Susan has laid a foundation of excellence and
has assembled an outstanding team. She is one or our region's finest leaders and a tremendous asset to our community," said."With her departure, we're excited that Grethe is joining the
Center to expand our influence, new markets and new areas of excellence. We conducted an extensive search for this position and look forward to leveraging her unique business and
technology background."
The Center for eBusiness and Advanced Information Technology (eBizITPA), headquartered in Erie, Pa., is a statewide Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority Initiative, designed to
