Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 Release Candidate 1 Now Available Current...

Net Applications (wwww.netapplications.com/source=PRW) Marketshare Site (http://marketshare.hitslink.comsource=PRW), powered by HitsLink, reports the browser usage market share data for August 2006. With Microsoft announcing that Release Candidate 1 for the new Internet Explorer 7 is now available (see below), there seems to be a calm before the big storm. The trends of Firefox and Opera making small gains in month to month market share continued with Opera reaching a new height of 0.64% market share. As reported here, Opera has positioned itself well in the portable devices / phones, and is expected to continue to grow for the foreseeable future.

Not to be outdone, Firefox is also treading in unmarked market share territory. August browser usage shows Firefox reaching 11.84% market share - a new record for Mozilla. The reports that Microsoft and Mozilla are working together to ensure that Firefox will be able to render previously IE specific websites, seems to bode well for additional Firefox market share gains.

MySpace - Has Your Profile Been Targeted Yet

Have you recently logged into your MySpace profile lately to realize that someone else has posted ad bulletins using your account Or do you notice bulletins that your friends have posted but you know it is not something they would put up there Be careful, these links that appear in these bulletins will redirect you to a spam type site that will flood your computer with viruses. You will either be directed to a new page or even a page that will ask you to log in to MySpace again. If you enter your information on this new log in page, your information is being stolen! When you log into your MySpace account, always be sure that the address is at login.myspace and nothing else. You should treat your log in information on MySpace same as you would your credit card information. Many people have the same log in information/passwords on several different sites including your online banking account, so watch out! Here are a few tips if you feel you may have been hacked.

1.) Take a look at the coding you have added to your profile (in the edit profile section). If there is a code that you know that you didn'st put there, remove it ASAP.

If you are unsure of what is supposed to be on your page and what is not, remove the quiz codes and the small image codes you may have on your site. This will allow you to browse through the codes a bit easier.

Basically any trinket you find off Myspace or any MySpace related sites will put your profile up as an easy target.

2.) Do a Windows Update (windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) before you try to upgrade flash. Without the proper updates in Windows, the Flash 9 may not work properly and may even screw up your system. Some people have not updated their Windows in ages, and if that'ss the case, you must take the time to update (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) . Some of the updates since April of this year are rather large, so plan to spend a large amount of time just updating Windows if you haven'st in a while. Once this is done, you can download Flash 9, which is what MySpace now uses. This program has updated security to protect you.

3.) Change all of your passwords. It can'st be stressed enough if you value your MySpace and your identity. If you used the same user name and password on other sites, change those as well, especially your email account.

Only change your password after you have verified that no extra coding exists in your profile. Changing your password without making sure your profile is already clean, may do even more damage by exposing your new password.

4.) If you have not done a virus scan on your computer lately, take the time to run the program. It may find some unnecessary bugs in your computer that may be from the MySpace hackers.
