Safran North America (SNA), one of the world'ss leading manufacturers and distributors of project management applications, announced today that it has added Proteus to its product offerings to serve the North American market.
Over seven years in development and proofing in the most demanding project management environments in transnational corporations, Proteus is an integration and intelligence application
that connects to project and/or enterprise information regardless of location, database system or underlying application. It is based on .NET it can access geographically dispersed data
sources over the web as well as secure networks. In summary, Proteus is a virtual multi-application smart client operating across an organization with security attributes for each user or
group of users in addition to any security acquired from the database.
We are extremely excited about the capabilities that Proteus offers to our market , said Safran North America CEO, Nicholas Pisano. We expect that Proteus will be a game-changer,
particularly since it leverages the next generation of tools, by-passing the dead-end reliance on OLAP or Cubes to achieve data integration. Turning data from disparate systems into
corporate information aggregated as appropriate based on a user'ss role in the organization.
More significantly for project-focused companies reliant on legacy and best-of-breed multi-application stove-piped environments Proteus possesses the ability to append and extend
underlying applications. So, for example, an organization can integrate cost, schedule, risk, financial and any other project-related information in one place and add any other relevant
information such as WBS dictionaries, contract clauses, etc. to that data with Proteus. The Proteus application establishes and maintains relationships between the data, aggregates it at
the appropriate level of the organization, allows for management by exception and other analytics, charting and graphing, sort on required action items and allows the user to correct the
data so that it writes back to the originating application'ss data source--the ever elusive (until now) single point entry for multiple applications. Thus Proteus enhances and extends
life of existing strategic toolsets, though additional integration advantages have been built on the Safran suite of project management applications.
Steinar Dalva, CEO of SNA Holding AS commented: Proteus is a market-tested application here in Europe deployed by transnational companies with operations around the world, including the
United States and Canada. The key feature that distinguishes Proteus from the early attempts to achieve integration across product sets is rapid development by leveraging the tools that we
have combined in .NET. Microsoft has spent a number of years putting a great deal of capability at that level that allows organizations to leverage in their favor. SNA Holding and Safran
North America can provide the market with a capability not found anywhere else with a virtually immediate ROI. This is particularly important as businesses and organizations try to find
ways of improving productivity and data integrity.
Proteus is being introduced into the U.S., Canadian and Mexico markets by Safran North America. SNA Holding AS shall continue to provide products and support in Europe.
