Background on Al-Jailani: from http://www.helpashraf.com

Ashraf Al-Jailani is a Yemeni man who married Michele, an American, in February 1996. They had three children together who are now ages 3, 5, and 7. Ashraf is Muslim and Michele is not.

On October 23, 2002 Ashraf was arrested at his job. 5 minutes later, 6 FBI agents showed up at the house and wanted to search it saying they found Ashraf's business card in the wallet of a suspected Al-Qaeda money launderer, so they thought Ashraf must be a terrorist. Well, Ashraf was looking for a better job, and he had mailed out hundreds of business cards. Three times, the immigration judge has issued decisions stating that that there was no evidence against him and that he should be released from jail. Even so, the gov't. appealed each time, thereby keeping Ashraf sitting in jail indefinitely. John Ashcroft's Patriot Act allows this to occur.
