A Box Full Of Imagination And Adventure For Children
May 18, 2005 -- Whoosh! Thump! "I want to be your friend!" are just some of the latest phrases coming out of the box. Not just any box, Browny Big Box. This new character is an imagination champion for children.
Where do boxes get shipped? That's right…. everywhere, and that is how this new character is able to interact with children around the world. As Browny is shipped from place to place he meets children who are trying to resolve a dilemma. Browny assists young readers in developing resolutions to common childhood issues through creative and imaginative adventures.
Browny Big Box is a character that intrigues children because he is unable to be seen by most adults. He comes to life when children use their power of imagination and he is able to transform into anything they can imagine.
Dressed in orange pants, black high top sneakers, and a very large orange baseball cap, Browny's favorite thing to do is to make new friends.
With imagination, kids learn to accept changes and to make new friends.
In the first book of the "Browny Big Box Adventure Series", "Making New Friends" by Jacqueline H.Blumenstock and David C. Pool (2005, $14.95 hc,www.thebigbrownbox.com), TJ is hesitant at first about going out to meet the kids in his new neighborhood. Then, while playing with one of the moving boxes, TJ is surprised when the box comes to life.
Browny explains that he is there because of TJ's imagination and that he wants to be his friend. Browny transforms into an airplane created by TJ's imagination and takes TJ on a flying adventure that he will remember forever. TJ comes to realize it is okay to miss his old friends, and that he doesn't have to be afraid to make new friends. Children (and their parents) will enjoy discovering how Browny helps TJ develop the self-confidence to form new friendships.
At the end of the story, Browny is shipped to Virginia, the site of the next book in the Browny Big Box Adventure Series. Children will enjoy using their imagination to discuss what other types of adventures Browny might have in future books.

Cheryl McCann, Editor, Review Books (www.review-books.com, May 1, 2005) "Making New Friends beautifully addresses this challenge, which is a common challenge for children of mobile families. Young readers will find it interesting and it should spark lots of imagination. I highly recommend it."
