Online Youth Ministry Making a Difference via Yahoo Instant Messenger Chat Services

February 1, 2005 -- I wanted to complete my e-mail campaign, but these repeated invites just kept coming. Every invite would cause me to repeat the copy and paste process again. Becoming aggravated, I began to make several mistakes, and started blaming the invites from the worship service. Soon another invite came, and I with anger and frustration barged into the chat conference with an attitude that would not quit.

I was immediately approached by a young brother by the name of Costin Keenan. He invited me to a sidebar, and we discussed the situation privately. I was being reprimanded by him for my conduct, as he questioned me as to why did not have time for the word of God. I became very defensive, and asked him who does he think he is questioning my faith.

Soon I was convinced by his conduct I was wrong and asked him to invite me back into the group so that I could return an apology. After my return and apology, I learned that Costi was only 19 years old. I asked him why were they in constant pursuit of my participation. I am convinced that God is directly involved in this as my own conviction confirms that more time is needed with devoting to this ministry and also the ministry according to His will.

Through Costi, I met a young man of 17 years named Rev. Mickey Edwards. Rev. Mickey Edwards has so blessed me with the level of his faith at such a young age.

With his hometown location at Mount Cobb Pennsylvania, Rev. Edwards has been in this ministry since 1999. What a blessing! You can find him frequently praising God, and locate him via the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cucmin which is the overseer of this ministry "IT'S ALL ABOUT THE CROSS" (IAATC) AND "EXTREME CHRISTIAN CHAT" (ECC). Rev. Mickey Edwards is basically overseer of this ministry.

Rev. Edwards Preached his first sermon December 8, 1999 at a 7PM service at the Assembly of God in Dickson City, PA. Born on August 20,1987, at community Medical Center in Scranton, Mickey Edwards is born again as of 1994, received baptism in the Holy Ghost soon after, and begins his calling for Christ.

He began "Extreme Christian Chat" (formerly "Extreme Youth Chat") in March of last year 2004. He states: "Many changes have developed, and now we are a plentiful ministry hoping to reach everyone with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ." Speakers of this group range from age 17 to 50.

This online ministry hosts an audience of 10% teen participation. These online ministry activities consist of; Miracle Healing Services, third Sunday of each month, Sunday Night Chapel, Midweek Services, Prayer Meeting and Bible Study, all on Yahoo Instant Messenger.

Rev. Edwards Yahoo IM ID or screen name is: revmcag. He also welcomes any contact. He states many of his audience is composed of from the early age of 4 year old to seniors. Many being blessed by the activities of this ministry and agreed to an interview with me following my apology for storming his conference session.

Here is Rev. Mickey's freestyle message to you:

As of right now, I am involved in many activities with my churches and my school. I update my school's website, compile sports stats for the coaches and the yearbook, keep my relationship with the Lord and with Andrea on track, also have church or youth in the Northeast Pennsylvania area 5 days out of a week, plus I have the online ministry, and a local youth ministry website that I manage.

My long term focus is to build an Assembly of God church in Mount Cobb and to make Mount Cobb the Christian outreach place of the country, and for Andrea and I to live a happy life together. We are here on this earth to live by the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19, "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

A disciple's aspects can be broken down into an acronymDisciplinedInstructedhaving a Servant's attitudeCommitted to his personal relationship with Jesus, his family and the local churchInvolved with ministries in the churchPraying dailyLoving each otherExcited about church. Many are not willing to live this way, so we must witness to those around us and tell them that the Lord cannot do anything with idle worshipers.

May the Lord bless everyone who reads this article and let it be used for the greatest purpose of His kingdomAMEN and AMEN.
